It's been a busy time at the Lions Den. Finally settled and situated in our new city, we've all found day-jobs to support our music habit, and we're starting to set some goals for our band for the rest of the year and into the future.
One of the things that you guys have been asking for (and we're doing our best to deliver) is new music! We currently have a block of about a dozen new tunes that are in the works. Bryan, David, and Mike have been hard at work toying with new song structures, chord progressions, and rhythms that we haven't tried before. We're unearthing a new side to Life as Lions that even we haven't heard yet.
I, on the other hand, have spent long days locked in my bedroom listening to these new pieces over and over working on melodies and lyrics. I have a habit of only writing lyrics when I'm going through something personal or am particularly inspired by my own life's events. Moving thousands of miles from my home is one of those things, among a few others, that has really sparked some new pages being filled in my notebook.
The process of writing is an incredibly collaborative one in the band. We have very similar views on how songs should be built, but we also have perspective of our own that we bring to the table. We tell everyone that we've never found a more compatible group of guys to make music, and as we mature as a band we appreciate that more and more.
Hang in there while we get these new tracks hashed out, and I guarantee that the reward will be well worth it. I'm sure you'll get some teases from us along the way. In the meantime, be sure to tune into our YouTube channel to check out our weekly video series, Lions Den Sessions. We'd love to hear what you think of the content, and we're always open to ideas for what to do next!
Thanks for all of your support, and we'll catch you on the flippy floppy.
